GUAY Pasatiempos Participation and Prize Rules
Version 1.0 · Effective 28 September 2026
GUAY Pasatiempos is for having fun and competing with others on equal terms. So: play yourself, with a single account and without automated help; choose a respectful player name that does not reveal your data or impersonate anyone; if you find a bug, tell us instead of exploiting it (and we will thank you); and do not spoil the daily challenge before the day is over. If someone cheats, penalties go from lighter to heavier, always with a person reviewing the case, explaining the reasons to you and with the possibility of requesting a review. There are no prizes today; if there ever are, they will have their own rules.
1. What these rules are for
These rules develop the GUAY Pasatiempos Terms and Conditions and form part of them. They explain what counts as fair play, which player names are allowed, what conduct is prohibited, how to report bugs and cheating, how penalties are graded and what rules would apply to possible future prizes. You accept them when you create your player account, together with the terms.
They have been prepared by WEBSITESYSEO S.L., with registered address at Calle Antonio Rosón 1, 27002 Lugo (Spain), owner of GUAY.news. For any questions about them you can write to info@websitesyseo.com.
GUAY.news is a good news newspaper and we want its games to reflect that: a friendly space where winning takes merit and losing is no drama.
2. Fair play
Playing fair means that your results are the product of your own skill and knowledge, in real time and on equal terms with everyone else. Specifically:
- you play personally, with your own account;
- you solve the games without programs, services or people solving them for you;
- you do not alter the operation of the game, the app or the website, or the data they send to the server;
- you respect the rules of each game and the 10-second limit per Quiz Guay question;
- you do not collude with other people to alter the leaderboards.
On the other hand, it is fine to practise, learn strategies, read general guides on how to solve a sudoku or play in the company of others for fun, provided this is not used to score on the leaderboards with outside help. In Quiz Guay, looking up the answer online or asking someone else during the 10 seconds goes against the spirit of the game and, if done systematically and detectably, may be considered cheating.
3. One person, one account
Each person may have only one player account. The account is personal and non-transferable. It is therefore prohibited to:
- have multiple accounts, for example to occupy several positions on a leaderboard, to try out daily challenge answers with one account and use them with another, or to evade a penalty;
- share the account with other people or let another person play with it;
- sell, buy, assign, rent or exchange accounts, player names, positions or badges, with or without consideration;
- create accounts on behalf of other people or with false data.
If several people in the same household want to play, each can create their own account with their own email. The fact that several accounts share a connection or device is not, by itself, a breach: we will take it into account in the human review.
4. Player names
Your player name is public and unique, and it appears on the leaderboards, in the winners' record and on your public profile. It must therefore comply with these rules.
4.1. Allowed names
You may use pseudonyms, nicknames, invented words, combinations of words and numbers, friendly references to your hobbies or any name that does not fall under the prohibitions below. We recommend that you do not use your real first name and surname. The permitted characters, length and format are shown in the form.
4.2. Prohibited names
Names are not allowed that:
- contain insults, swear words, sexual or obscene language or references to drugs or violence;
- express or incite hatred, discrimination or violence on grounds of origin, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age or any other personal or social circumstance, or glorify crime or terrorism;
- impersonate another real person, another player, GUAY.news, its team or its moderators (for example, "Admin", "GUAY Moderator", "GUAYSupport"), or mislead others as to who you are;
- include personal data, your own or others': full names of third parties, telephone numbers, addresses, emails, identity documents or usernames on other networks;
- use third-party trademarks, trade names or distinctive signs in a way that may infringe their rights or suggest a relationship that does not exist;
- contain advertising, links, web addresses, promotional codes or solicitation of any kind;
- contain party-political references or are deliberately provocative, in keeping with the editorial line of a good news newspaper;
- attempt to evade the filters by replacing letters with numbers or symbols, or by misspelling words.
4.3. Filters and review
We apply automatic filters when you choose or change your name. As no filter is perfect, the team may review names and any player may report an inappropriate name. If a name breaches these rules, we will ask you to change it; if the breach is serious or you do not change it within the stated period, we will replace it with a neutral temporary name, which you can replace with another valid one. If a filter has rejected a legitimate name by mistake, write to us and we will review it.
5. No automation or tampering
In particular, it is prohibited to:
- use bots, scripts, macros, browser extensions, keystroke emulators or any program that plays, in whole or in part, in your place;
- use automatic solvers for sudokus, word searches or words, or tools that analyse the screen or board to give you the solution;
- tamper with the network or the client: intercept, modify, replay or fabricate requests to the server; alter the device clock to gain time or repeat the daily challenge; modify the code of the website or the app; tamper with game data saved on the device or offline games;
- attempt to obtain the solutions before playing from the code, the seeds or the server's responses;
- circumvent the anti-cheat system, request limits or any security measure;
- exploit bugs to obtain points, badges or positions that are not due;
- carry out security or load testing without our prior written authorisation.
6. If you find a bug, tell us
The games may have bugs: an impossible grid, a question with the wrong answer, a way of scoring more than intended. If you find one, report it instead of exploiting it, by writing to info@websitesyseo.com or using the game's "Report an error" button, if available. We will thank you and, where the bug is significant, we may acknowledge it publicly if you wish.
Reporting a bug in good faith will never result in a penalty, even if you triggered it unintentionally in discovering it. What is penalised is exploiting it deliberately or repeatedly, or spreading it so that others can exploit it. If the bug affects security, do not publish it until we have fixed it.
7. Collusion and other prohibited conduct
- Collusion: agreeing with other players to alter the leaderboards, for example by sharing answers in real time, splitting games between accounts or stopping playing in exchange for something.
- Leaderboard manipulation: any practice aimed at artificially altering one's own or others' positions.
- Trading: offering "ranking boost" services, selling accounts or results, or any commercial use of the games without our authorisation.
- Impersonation and deception: posing as GUAY.news to ask other players for data, passwords or payments, or promising prizes in our name.
- Abuse of reporting channels: repeatedly sending false or manifestly unfounded reports against other players.
8. Respect
Treat other players and the team with respect, on and off the platform when acting as a GUAY Pasatiempos player. Do not harass, threaten, insult or humiliate anyone because of their position on a leaderboard or for any other reason, and do not publish other players' personal data. If someone bothers you using their player name or profile, report it. Remember that GUAY.news is not responsible for the relationships you establish with other players, as explained in the GUAY Pasatiempos Terms and Conditions.
9. The daily challenge and its solutions
The daily challenge is the same for everyone who plays that day, from 00:00 to 23:59:59, Madrid time. To keep it fun for everyone, we ask you not to share the solution (the La Guay-labra word, the Quiz answers or the solved board) before the day is over. Sharing your result without revealing the solution, such as the La Guay-labra colour grid, is allowed and we encourage you to do so.
This request is a recommendation of good conduct and, by itself, does not give rise to penalties. Only organised abuse may be penalised: for example, systematically publishing the solutions as soon as the challenge opens so that other players can score with them on the leaderboards, or coordinating to do so, which will be considered collusion under section 7.
10. How to report bugs, cheating and inappropriate names
You can report:
- bugs and errors in the games or questions, with the "Report an error" button or by email;
- possible cheating or suspicious accounts, stating the player's name, the game and the leaderboard affected and, if you can, why it seems suspicious;
- inappropriate player names, with the profile's report option, if available, or by email.
Write to info@websitesyseo.com. We will review reports diligently, objectively and in a non-arbitrary manner. We cannot always tell you the outcome of a report about another player, because it concerns their data, but we will confirm that we have received and handled it. Reports have no automatic effect: no account is penalised just because it has been reported.
11. How we detect cheating
We use an automated anti-cheat system that checks the cryptographic signature (HMAC) of each game, compares times with reasonable minimum human times and looks for anomalous patterns. That system only flags suspicious games, which do not add points until a person reviews them. If the review confirms the game is valid, its points are added. We do not give further details of the criteria so as not to make them easier to circumvent. How it works, the data used and your rights are explained in the GUAY Pasatiempos Terms and Conditions and in the GUAY Pasatiempos Privacy Policy.
12. Penalties
12.1. Possible measures
If, after human review, a breach of these rules or the terms is confirmed, we may apply the following measures, from least to most serious:
- Warning: a warning by email, explaining the conduct and asking you to correct it.
- Cancellation of games or points: the games concerned no longer count and the leaderboards are recalculated, including, where appropriate, closed ones and the winners' record. Badges or streaks obtained with them may also be withdrawn.
- Temporary exclusion from leaderboards: you can keep playing, but you do not appear on the leaderboards for a given period.
- Forced name change: for names that breach section 4.
- Temporary account suspension: you cannot use the account for a given period.
- Permanent block: the account is closed permanently and you may not create another. This is reserved for very serious or repeated breaches.
Measures may be combined where proportionate (for example, cancellation of points and temporary exclusion). Cancelling a game is not in itself a penalty where it merely corrects a result that should not have counted.
12.2. Proportionality
In choosing the measure we will take into account the seriousness of the conduct, whether it was intentional, its impact on other players and on the leaderboards, repetition, the time elapsed since previous breaches and whether you have cooperated or corrected the conduct. In general, a first minor breach will result in a warning. Deliberate cheating with automated tools, impersonation, account selling or reoffending after a suspension may lead directly to more serious measures.
12.3. Statement of reasons
We will notify you of any measure by email, with a clear explanation of: the measure adopted and its scope and duration; the facts on which it is based; whether the case originated from the automated system, a report or our own initiative; the rule applied; and how to request a review. We will only omit this communication where the law or an authority prevents it.
12.4. Review and complaints
You may request a review of any measure within six months of being notified of it, by replying to the email or writing to info@websitesyseo.com with your arguments. It will be reviewed by a person other than the one who took the decision, who will give a reasoned decision within one month at most. If the measure was not justified, we will reverse it without delay, restore your points and positions and record this. You may also use the dispute resolution channels and the courts indicated in the GUAY Pasatiempos Terms and Conditions and, as regards your data, the Spanish Data Protection Agency.
13. Future prizes
13.1. Current situation
There are currently no prizes. The leaderboards and the winners' record have value only as recognition, and the positions obtained in them do not give entitlement to any prize, now or in the future, unless rules published later expressly provide so.
13.2. Specific rules
If in the future we hold prizes, competitions or prize draws linked to the Games, each one will have its own specific rules, published in advance of its start, which will govern at least:
- the scope: which games, leaderboards and periods it includes, the territorial scope and the start and end dates;
- the requirements for taking part and receiving the prize, including the minimum age and, where applicable, the authorisation of parents or guardians for minors;
- identity and age verification of the winners, which may require them to prove their real details before delivery;
- the description and value of the prizes, which may not be exchanged for cash unless the rules so provide;
- taxation: where applicable under Spanish Personal Income Tax (IRPF) rules, we will make the corresponding IRPF withholdings or payments on account, and the winner may have to declare the prize;
- exclusions: employees and collaborators of WEBSITESYSEO S.L. involved in managing the games, their close relatives and anyone who has taken part in preparing the questions or solutions will not be eligible for prizes;
- the deadlines for accepting and claiming the prize, and what happens if the winner does not claim it or does not meet the requirements;
- the processing of participants' and winners' personal data and, if provided for, the publication of their player name.
The rules will comply with the applicable legislation, including gaming, advertising and consumer protection law. In the event of conflict between these rules and the rules of a specific competition, the latter will prevail within their subject matter.
13.3. Verification and exclusion
Before delivering any prize, we may verify the games of the potential winner, even those that have already added points, with human review. We may exclude from the competition, and not deliver the prize to, anyone who has breached these rules, the terms or the competition rules, who does not prove the requirements or who obtained their position by cheating. In that case the prize may go to the next player who meets the requirements, as provided for in the competition rules, and the excluded person may request a review under section 12.4.
14. Changes to these rules
We may amend these rules for legal, technical or security reasons or to adapt them to new games or new ways of cheating. Relevant changes will be notified and submitted for acceptance on the same terms as amendments to the GUAY Pasatiempos Terms and Conditions, generally at least 15 days before they take effect, and will not apply to prior conduct. These rules are available in Spanish and English; in the event of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.
